Climate Action with Commons.earth — Webflow project by Hilvy for Sanchali Pal

Key outcome

Community-focused Webflow site fully integrated with the Commons.earth app

A website for everyday climate action

Commons is an app that helps people understand, reduce and offset the carbon emissions associated with their daily activities and purchases. Its website introduces that experience to people who may be meeting the product for the first time.

Hilvy’s role was website development: bringing the Commons story into Webflow and supporting the publishing system behind it. Our work included multiple Webflow project launches, a website backend revamp and ongoing development support.

The experience and the work behind it

A consumer app has two connected experiences: the product itself and the website people visit to understand it. Our scope was the website, not the development of the Commons app. The public-facing pages needed to support its story, while the website’s content and technical setup needed continued care.

That distinction is important. A website can help explain the product and give visitors a route to it, but the work continues after a page is published. New content, website changes and further launches need a development partner familiar with the existing setup.

Webflow development and a backend revamp

The engagement brought together Webflow development, custom API work and ongoing website content management. Alongside the visible pages, we worked on the website backend. This connected launch work with the less visible structure that supports content and future changes.

Rather than treating each release as an isolated build, our role extended across multiple Webflow projects. The Commons team had the same development partner involved in launching pages and supporting the underlying website.

In the client’s words

“Derrick and his team were wonderful to work with and helped us a lot with launching multiple Webflow projects in addition to doing a full website backend revamp. Recommend him to anyone!”

Liza Moiseeva, CMO at Commons

What this means for a growing product team

This project brings together the customer-facing website and the development support around it. It is an example of our Webflow development work for an established app, with ongoing website support as the team’s needs evolve.
